  • AMOY by Far East Hospitality Voted Top Hotel in Singapore and Best Hotel for Service

Singapore, 23 January 2015 – Far East Hospitality announced today that its newest boutique hotel AMOY has won two awards – Top Hotel in Singapore, and Best Hotel for Service in Singapore – in TripAdvisor’s 2015 Travellers’ Choice awards.

TripAdvisor’s Top hotel winners were determined based on quality of traveller reviews and opinions for properties with a star rating of 3.5 stars and above, and with 30 or more rooms. Best Service hotels were identified taking into account the quality of reviews and ratings for service. AMOY, which opened in December 2013, had received over 299 reviews on TripAdvisor, the majority of which were "Very good" or "Excellent" ratings.

“We’re delighted to have won two prestigious awards so soon after AMOY’s opening. Today’s travelers are savvy and have high expectations, so to receive such ringing endorsement from them is testimony to the unique and intriguing Singaporean heritage experience that AMOY offers, as well to our commitment to Singaporean service that is both warm and genuine,” said Mr Arthur Kiong, Chief Executive Officer of Far East Hospitality.

“We take the extra mile to make guests feel like royalty. For instance, at AMOY we make it a point to welcome all our foreign travelers from the airport, just like how early migrants were picked up by their loved ones upon arriving on Singapore’s shores. This is part of our promise to ensure that our service is special and personalized,” added Mr Kiong.

The 37-room AMOY is the first and only hotel in Singapore to incorporate a museum that traces the footsteps of early immigrants from China. AMOY draws its inspiration from the unique character of its location – Far East Square -- where it is among a collection of shophouses dating back more than 170 years that were conserved with a theme of “Old Meets New, East Meets West”.

Located along the original shoreline where early migrants first landed, AMOY’s guests enter the contemporary hotel via Fuk Tak Chi, Singapore’s first street museum which was formerly a temple and the headquarters for the Hakka and Cantonese communities in the 1800s.

The interior of the hotel is also designed to mirror the life of Singapore’s early Chinese immigrants, but with a modern and contemporary twist. The rooms are designed to include heritage accents with carefully selected furnishings such as traditional Chinese stools and porcelain basin. Each room is emblazoned with a Chinese family name on the door, an ode to the contribution of early migrants who lived around the area; no two rooms are alike in layout and furnishings.

The smoke-free hotel is in close proximity to business, leisure and dining locations, and the Telok Ayer MRT station. Apart from being in the heart of Singapore’s Central Business District, the hotel is a 10-minute walk to shopping and leisure areas such as Clarke Quay, Boat Quay and Chinatown.
